Eigenschaften
Der JΕ ist kΓΌrzer als der BΕ und lΓ€nger als der HanbΕ. Die LΓ€nge eines JΕ ist im JΕdΕ mit 127,6 cm definiert (4 shaku, 2 sun, 1 bu), bei einem Durchmesser von 8 bu (24,2 mm).cite-ref-1[1] Der JΕ ist damit ca. 20 bis 30 cm lΓ€nger als das Katana. GebrΓ€uchlich sind in den verschiedenen Stilrichtungen auΓerhalb des JΕdΕ (in der BlΓΌtezeit etwa 70) LΓ€ngen zwischen 120 cm und 145 cm bei Durchmessern von 25 bis 28 mm.
Geschichte
Als Erfinder des JΕ gilt Muso Gonnosuke, ein Samurai, der um 1605 die Kampfkunst mit dem JΕ entwickelte und seine eigene Schule (Shinto Muso-Ryu) grΓΌndete. Der Name JΕdΕ wurde erst 1940 durch Shimizu Takaji geprΓ€gt. Im Gegensatz zu den KobudΕ-Waffen (wie BΕ, Sai und Tonfa) ist der JΕ nicht als Waffe der Bauernschaft entstanden, sondern eine echte Samuraiwaffe, deren Gebrauch in formellen Kampfkunstschulen (KoryΕ«) gelehrt wurde (hierzu siehe auch JΕdΕ).cite-ref-2[2]
